A new report shows they are satisfied with the attention and efforts of the coaches. According to a new study by Sykes Enterprises, most high school students struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic said they received good academic and personal support from their online teachers.

Student responses were generally positive – 85% said their online courses felt like a “classroom community”, 84% said a distance learning environment could be effective, and 70% said they would consider doing more in the future to take virtual lessons.

However, there were several obstacles that prevented them from fully agreeing to it.

“Our participants tell us that while they feel very personally supported by their online teacher, there are many opportunities to enhance their virtual learning,” said Steve Davis, Executive Director of Business Development for Sykes Higher Education. “Nearly half of the students indicated that they wanted more support, both in better virtual collaboration with their classmates (45%) and in dealing with technical problems in the classroom (44%).

And while instructors seem fine with putting their classes online, students say they want more interaction. About 61% managed to take part in virtual hours last fall.
